As part of Government efforts to provide an additional housing option for singles aged 35 and above, such citizens have been allowed to apply for new two-room flats in non-mature estates since July 2013.
However application rates have been falling. For some singles, they may feel that their chances of getting a 2-room BTO flat are still fairly small. For example, the current application submission is about 6, which means that only about 1 out of 6 singles that applied for the BTO flats will be able to get a BTO flat of their choice. Hence, some singles either turn to the resale market or choose to live with their parents.
